    Default Interesting SS soldbuch

Recentaly at the SOS show I purchased this SS soldbuch to Walter Michel. inside the soldbuch I found an SS document showing that owner was sent to an SS punishment camp called Danzig Matzkau in 1944, and his stay at was also extended in 1945. There are many entries throughout this soldbuch, and I was hopping that someone might be able to tell me more about what these different entries mean. If anyone needs more pictures, I can take more. And also, sorry about some of the photos not being in order.
    Thanks

Do you have images of the pages that show his units - usually page 4 and a page between 21 & 25 - and pages 2 & 3?

Does it say anywhere what he did to get himself sent off to a punishment camp-and extended there? I suspect that it had something to do with his tank fighting unit and the end of the war coming on. Interesting book!

It looks like he could of been sent there as a member of the staff rather than as a prisoner. At the time SS Panzerjäger (Sturmgeschütz) Ersatz Abteilung 3 was located around Janowitz and Beneschau in the Czech Republic and was the location of the SS Panzerjäger (Sturmgeschütz) Schule. If he was sent there as an inmate then it could be for something like insubordination but that is just a guess.

Interesting front line unit. The Begleit-Btl RF-SS was originally formed as Himmler's personal escort in May 1941 before being sent to fight on the Eastern Front. It was used to form 16.SS-Pz.Gren.Division 'Reichsführer-SS'.
During the Battle Of Berlin the majority of the men were used to form Kampfgruppe Mohnke.

Here is a thread on AHF with further information... RFSS Begleit-Bataillon - Axis History Forum
