Lucky lady.
The text on the cover translates as:
"1. The holder of this identity card is to carry it at all times and, upon demand, has to present it to all official agencies as well as the officials of the police service without delay.
2. It is punishable by law to distort the contents of the identitiy card or to make alterations to its contents, to allow anybody else the use of the identity card or to use somebody else's identity card.
3. Loss of the identity card is to be immediately reported to the nearest municipal police office as well as to the issuing agency.
4. The identity card is exclusively a domestic identification paper."
As for the personal information: Eye color is given as blue, stature as slender, nationality as German and occupation as salesclerk. No permanent or non-permanent distinguishing marks are listed.
All other data is also given in English, so no need to translate it.
The ID card was issued in August 1949; date of birth is given as 1 March 1931, so she was 18 at the time.
Allow me to add that this is not a "Jewish ID card" or any other Third Reich-era document, but simply a German ID card of the early post-war period as used up until December 1950.
(Also, if you want to protect her identity, you might want to change the images: On the left page, the first name is blurred, but the surname is legible, whereas on the right page, the surname is blurred and the first name legible.)
ok thanks for the info HPL ,much appretiated
