    Hello all,

This was offered to me in trade. Was this some sort of thing that was available to sailor's for private purchase or something?

A lot if these photos appear to have been published before.

    A nicely done album.

You are correct: a sailor could buy the photos and them make his own custom made souvenir album with them.

    Cheers, Ade.

I know it is impolite to ask for a value estimation and I apologize in advance but I know nothing about these. Am I being taken advantage of if the guy wants a $500 item?

Please help. Is this a mistake?

Us and them - and after all we’re only ordinary men. Me, and you - God only knows it’s not what we would choose to do. Forward he cried from the rear, and the front rank died, and the general sat and the lines on the map moved from side to side.

If the photos were snap shots that the owner had taken himself, $500 would be a decent price, but for a mass produced photo souvenir album? I would say it's fairly costly.

It's not a mass produced souvenir album.

Many (I don't think all) of the photographs contained in the album were commercially available prints bought by the original owner, but their assembly into an album and the additional hand-made captions and drawings were his own work.

By the way: From the captions it is clear he was a crew member of the Emden.

    Hello again,

Thank you all so much for the help. I looked at the back of the photos and took some sample photos for you. There was only one with a company name on the reverse, the rest all just had a penciled in description and title for the photo.

I thought it would be fun to scan some of the details of the large bronze eagles (the first one the ship with the sails looks to be wooden to me) shown on some of the craft for Mr. Saris and hopefully he gets a kick out of seeing them.

    Thanks again.
