Hello,
Trying to find some war-time biography on Wilhelm Uppenborn who was also a SS-Obersturmführer (SS number 253283), seems he was also an expert on horse-breeding before or also after the war...
Here's all data the SS-Dienstalterslisten [SS Officer Seniority Lists] have on him:
Name: Dr. Wilhelm Uppenborn
Date of birth: 15 Oct. 1904
NSDAP No.: 1 838 796
SS No.: 258 283
Promotion dates:
- 30 Jan. 1937 - Untersturmführer
- 20 April 1939 - Obersturmführer
Duty position: Stab Oberabschnitt Nordost
(SS-DAL of 1 Dec. 1938 and addendum of 15 June 1939)
According to his Wikipedia article*, which lists him as an agronomer, author and Landstallmeister, he died on 3 February 1988 in Krefeld-Traar. The article states he began his career in the Royal Hungarian Stud Farms Kisbér, Bábolna and Mezőhegyes and worked as an advisor and manager of horse-breeding facilities in Kildare County (Ireland), England and France. He subsequently worked at the Brandenburgisches Haupt- und Landgestüt [Brandenburgian Main- and State Stud Farm] in Neustadt/Dosse and then as the head of the Hengstprüfungsanstalt [Stallion Examination Institution] Zwion-Georgenburg in East Prussia. Furthermore, he was the Landstallmeister [State Stable Master] of the Landesgestüte [State Stud Farms] in Osnabrück-Eversburg, Hanover and Rastenburg. He received several awards for his work in the field of horse breeding.
