Default Mein Kampf set in lead type

    Hello all,
Recently I ran into someone who showed me a block of lead type and claimed it was a page from Mein Kampf. I cannot read German, so I have no idea what it read. However, I read online that all the lead type to Mein Kampf was melted down after the war so a democratic newspaper could be printed. Could it be possible that some did not get destroyed and this persons claim is valid?

He let me take one picture and here it is. I laid a ruler beside it for scale. The block of type is held together by a cord wrapped around the perimeter. It was also wrapped inside of the yellowish paper that it's setting on.

It looks as though someone may have already tried that.
There is some ink staining on the wrapping paper.

I would think there were many different editions published,
and it would be interesting to try and match it up to an
original book, or just roll some ink on and press it
to a sheet of paper to see if it actually is a page
    from Mein Kampf !
    Regards,

    Steve.

    Hey Steve,

    not difficult at all.
Tell me the page you want and I 'll make you the lead blok.
You can even choose your letter type!!
Among the different interests I have, old printing machines are one of them.
I think I mentioned and posted some pictures before.
Always willing to buy some more any where in the world, so if have spotted some please let me know.
I am just adding some pictures I easely found, mostely taken when picked up, just before getting in to the warehouse.
What I found is on the first picture some machines ready to go somewhere in Holland.
The second one also in Holland an old german printing machine.
And the third is some machines we picked up in the UK , the cupboard you see at the end(of the lorry, so the front of the picture....) is one where lead characters are kept in...
But we got a machine (+/- 1920) that makes characters ,transformated so it is operated from my PC.
It still takes some human presence when the characters are formed. And lead can be heavy.

The 'title page' would be nice !

I know there was a photo of Hitler at the beginning of each of these books,
but it would require colour separation - one of those would be great too !

Or would you use existing type and set it yourself ?

    Yes.
That is why I don't believe in the authenticity of most documents.
    So easy to do.
