Well, I got there! My 1000th post on this fine forum ( now I just have to catch up with Ade with 787 million, 157 thousand, 242 .... 243, 244 )

Anyway this is also to advise of a nice document grouping I have just bought and will be posting up in a few days.
It is for a soldier who served in Poland, France and Russia ( where he was discharged in October 1942 for losing part of foot to frostbite )
He was awarded an EK2, a silver wound badge and the Ostfront medal. It comprises his Soldbuch, his military driving license, discharge papers, an extract of military service, written proof of racial purity of his family!!!, a 45 page Wehrpass Stammbuch and other assorted documents.

Groupings like this are rare because people break them up for better sales, but the whole soldier's story becomes lost in the process!

So, 1000 down & many more to come - and now I qualify for the NEXT 1000 post project ( probably get changed to 2000 posts ...... bah )
Thanks to all for your help ( and helmets ....ha, ha )
    Dan

Well done on reaching the 1,000 mark Dan. The document lot sounds great, I look forward to seeing it when it arrives, and I also concur that groupings should stay together whenever possible.

Well done Dan, one of us 1000 posters now!

Good stuff on the grouping, always good to se them kept together for awhile longer so the story continues.

Thanks for the offer Krad but I might just watch the show this time around. ATMG is also Sydney based so he will (possibly ) use our iconic bridge & Opera house.
I live in the mountains so it's only gum trees and koalas around here!!!

TKS Jerry - I have taken it slow because my old grandfather had a saying, ( doesn't quite work as I am typing not talking but it goes like this )
" it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt"
So with me on a LONG learning curve over the last few years I have tried to collect knowledge before I type away and make a fool of myself - and I'm STILL learning .....
Thanks to ALL who have been my teachers!
