Guys,
This must be local to me as it has the crossed horses. I love these unit level items. Looks like they had a busy year!

Would the book be from the 207th Infantry Division?
Tks,
Bob
What is the crossed horses symbol ? I have seen this on the Agravis Reiffessen or Reiffeisen Markt shops....
There must be a story... :-)
Nice book however..... :-)
Nice item - there is a signpost on the map that mentions Hannover so I would say that is where this particular unit is from.
There seems to be a handful of units that have crossed horses as a divisional emblem (see the relevant section on ... http://www.wwiidaybyday.com ) but the closest match seems to be 267 Infantry Division... http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...onen/267ID.htm who headed to Moscow via Bobruisk & Vyazma which seems to correlate with the path of the unit on the map.
I think it is the unit I mentioned previously. 267 ID were raised in Wehrkreis XI which included Hannover, which again correlates with the sign on the map.
Hi Jock and all:
I have Paul Carells book Der Russlandkrieg. In the back
it has many of the Wehrmacht Division symbols. The one
for the 207th S(Wehrkreis II Stettin) is a perfect match
for the one on the cover of the map.
Tks,
Bob
