Polizei Battalion 323
I found the first 3 photos a few months ago. The Policeman is Erwin Krüger who was a member of Police Battalion 323 during the war.
He was born on 06/06/1909 in Stettin (Szczecin) in West Pomerania.
Erwin, who held the rank Wachtmeister was killed in action on the 23rd of March 1942 near to Jelna (Yelyna) Smolensk, Russia.
Just last week I purchased the death card due to its relation to Erwin.
Josef Kurz was also a Wachtmeister in Polizei Battalion 323 and was killed the following day, 24 March 1942 at the same location.
Josef was born 7/9/1912 in Kimmratshofen, near Munich.
I don't usually keep items relating to Polizei Battalions due to their links to atrocities carried out in the East but I made an exception as it isn't too common to find items from the same Battalion.
