post-war German visa

Hi,

I am interested in understanding the permit qualifications for someone entering post-war Germany, for example, the US zone. This passport holder had a visa to the western-zones: E1228 what would that number mean? would there be a list for such visa numbers?

Hi Neil, I would think the only place to find out this kind of info would be the US National Archives?
