It's apparently from the "Foreign Office of the German Reich"...
cheers, Glenn
Do you happen to know the duty assigned to that office?......Thanks, Frank
I've owned several period stamps such as these over the years. This one has a genuine form, looks good.
The Foreign Office is the same as the Foreign Ministry, dealing with foreign affairs...
cheers, Glenn
nice to see an original one.
Frank: The Auswärtiges Amt (Foreign Office) was headed by Joachim von Ribbentrop 1938-1945 and was responsible for Germany's foreign policies, Embassies, Consulates and all diplomatic services. The high point of the Auswärtiges Amt's diplomatic accomplishments was the 1940 Soviet-German Non-Aggression Pact. The specific use for your Stempel is something I can't say other than it was used to stamp official Foreign Office documents, but the number at the bottom of the stamp probably offers a clue about that particular stamp. Below is a photograph of von Ribbentrop (Bundesarchive photo 183-H04810). Dwight
Nice & it also has the makers metal tag on the handle.
