    Hello guys,

I was looking and comparing these 2 pics of Sepp. Strange comparison for that reason he is, what I think on the same place
with the same photographer but wearing other collar tabs. Should this be coinsidence or should it maybe been photoshopped by someone?

I even think the collartabs are the same. Look at the leafs and the white board of the left collar tab.
I guess someone messed with the picture.

Not photoshopped as such, but retouched during the Third Reich era.

It was a common wartime practice to "update" existing photographs to show a newly-bestowed rank (in this case Oberst-Gruppenführer) or decoration (like a Knight's Cross or Oak Leaves to a Knight's Cross etc.).

This way, these photographs could be instantly used for press coverage before new official portrait photographs of the person were taken.

First time posting on the forum. These have not been photoshopped but were period done as stated above. They would take various photos the same time and later if an award was given and the rank changed they would add the new collar tab, Knights Cross etc. Even in some of Hitlers photos some of the early ones show inportant people like Ernst Rohm who was later taken out of the orignal photo and another photo redone without this person in it. If you have the variations of the photo they sometimes are worth more as a group to show the variation. Nice to see the photos in these variations. Thanks for posting them. Regards Don Boyle

this was quite commonly done during the Third Reich.
There are various high leaders with such retouched collar patches.
    For example: Julius Schreck.

Another interesting point is the use of an embroidered Heer eagle on his cap.

    Yes, one of several!

Not a 'textbook' wearer of the uniform!

I wonder where his swords and oaks Ritter is today. Is it in a museum or in private hands?
