Default Bulgaria Wartime Currency And Coins King Boris III

Tsar Boris III of Bulgaria died shortly after returning from a visit with Adolph Hitler in 1943. Despite rumours of poison, nothing was ever proven. His 6 year old son Simeon II succeeded him to the Bulgaria Throne. The Bulgarians tried many different cheaper metal alloys for their coins throughout the war. Starting with copper-nickel and working their way through iron and nickel clad steel with varying degrees of success as you can see. I have not separated the coins between the 2 reigns, but anything dated 1943 on is from Simeon II.

    Default Ukraine Wartime Currency

One of the only foreign notes to bear the Swastika. There was a 2 Karbowanez printed also, but it was on a train bombed by the Partisans and an unknown amount was captured, so all 2 Karb's were invalidated.

Default Finland Wartime Coins and Currency

Finland had some very unusual moneys during the war. The coins came in a myriad of different metals and sizes-some ending up as tiny as a fish scale and made of easy rusting iron. The Currency in Finland is even more unusual, both in shapes and especially designs. The 500 Markkaa is dated 1922 but was Issued in 1931 thru 1942 and it's older brother the 1000 Markkaa is similar, being dated 1922 but issued in 1931-1945. The markings "Litt. C" indicate this. (How did they carry huge square banknotes? And did they Really go farming and fishing dressed like that?)

    Default Montenegro Wartime Currency

Montenegro was attacked and occupied by Italy in 1941 who promptly annexed it to the Kingdom of Italy, but the Queen of Italy leaned on her husband Victor Emmanuel III to make Montenegro independent of Yugoslavia. The little country promptly went into revolt and pretty well kicked the Italians out of most of the land. When the Italians left, the Germans took over control and got into a nasty fight with Tito and his Partisans right up to the moment the Germans left in December of 1944. But, while the Italians Did occupy it, they took 6 of the old Yugoslavia currency notes and overstamped them with "Verificato", and this is that series.

Default Romania Wartime Coins And Currency Part 1

Romania began with thick heavy quality Silver coins and finally ended up with thin crude zink. Note the 2 different Kings Mihai I and Carol II. Also, the 2 250 Lei silver coins are not duplicates-they have edge writing on them The common one says "Nihil Sine Deo" which means "Nothing without God". The second and rarer one says "Totul Pentru Tara" which was a motto of the fanatical Iron Guards and means "Everything for the Country".
