Yes he fought with the Uhlans on the Eastern Front where he won the EK I and II

You could not be awarded the Iron Cross for good conduct.

I don't mean 'good conduct' I meant being a good soldier over and over instead of a brave single action, I just didn't know how to put it.

Here is one from the Stalingrad list, Otto Gemünden 9th Flak Division which served in the Northern part of the city and its surroundings.

On the 30th of September it is recorded that Otto Gemunden destroyed 21 Soviet tanks, following this he destroyed 3 tanks in close combat using grenades and mines.
The following year in January 1943 he was wounded in the Stalingrad Pocket and was flow out from Pitomnik Airfield on one of the last flights and one of the last days before the 9th Flak was totally destroyed in combat.
