some help with a Soldbuch...Stalingrad or not?

Article about: Hi, Was this soldiers Soldbuch used towards the end there? there are markings on page 23, but maybe by tracing his units location could verify this or a 'doctored' document? thank, Neil

    Whoever penciled in "Rostov" on the leave-page wasn't familiar with German spelling...when all they had to do was look at the other entry, lol...

    Yes, they saw the dates when he was on leave, which are within the Stalingrad period and added Stalingrad thinking it was his duty station, when in fact it is the page for Leave Entries...Hope that makes sense? But it's apparent to me that this has been played with. Although you can erase the pencil and have an honest regular Soldbuch I suppose...!

    Still, Rostov is legit I presume...maybe we can find more by looking into it...

    He was with the Wirtschaftskommando in Rostow, which is an economic administration related unit...
    so they doctored it up in the hopes that a non-german collector would see "Stalingrad" next to the dates that he was actually on leave and think they had a rare Soldbuch...it's all about the money with some of these people, friend...
