hi the ahnenpass meaning literally ,ancestor passport . was to show your aryan lineage . it listed your ancestors to show you were of pure german blood . the 1933 law for the restoration of the professional civil services required public servants to be of aryan decent ,this is one example of the use of these passes . the ahnenpass was not a public record and was produced and shown when required and returned to the bearer ....paul

I have read that SS personell and others had to do that but have never seen one.

How far back did the SS require one to go back,I think 248 years is a little excessive

Back to 1750 for officers, 1800 for lower ranks.

I know that German humor is a bit dryer than American but are you kidding or did the SS really do that.
