    Its sometimes not the action photo or the studio shot - or even a row of tanks & men - but the candid shot of humans at their most basic......

    I love the look of satisfaction a simple kochgeschirr filled with some soup and potatoes can give a dirty battle weary soldier - this is Pulitzer Prize winning stuff!!

    Yes. A nice departure from the usual more 'aggressive' pics (for lack of better words).

    It's a good perspective most of the things nowadays from movies to books portray the average German soldier as some sort of Jew hating nazi brute. But in actuality they were just common fellows just like you and I. Pictures like this are truly amazing. Even though it's such a simple action it really helps put some perspective on how most German soldiers were just like us, They ate, slept, had families, girlfriends etc. Good stuff! Thanks for posting!
