    surviving RK recipients

Just received my signed picture of Lt Gunter Halm of the DAK. Recipient of the RK during the Africa campaign. Lt Halm was 19 y/o when he received this awar when he was a Grenadier and Richtschütze in the Pakzug Stabskompanie Panzergrenadier-Regiment 104 / Deutsches Afrika-Korps attached to the 21st Panzer Division.

Lt Halm is 91 years old now but he's still in good health, enjoying his old days in Bad Munder (Germany).
Take your time to look up surviving RK recipients and write them a letter...soon they all will be gone.

I was lucky to find Lt Halm. There is a list available online with the names of all RK recipients. It also shows if they are still alive or not. I picked Lt Halm because somewhere it showed his last place of residence.
I looked him up in the German phonebook and guess what? Found his address and phone number.

I wrote him a letter (in German) and 3 weeks later I got his signed pic in my mailbox.

I'm currently writing a letter to Joachim Boosfeld, SS-Hauptsturmführer. I will update this post as soon as I get a reply from him.

Ok, thx for the heads-up. Do you know why? I know he was a member of the Bundeswehr after the war...one of the few SS angehorigen that joined the army again after the war.

I'm gonna try anyway and we'll see.

He was never one of the best at answering queries but i guess at 92 years of age he just wants to be left in peace !!
