An old thread I know but I just noticed something quite interesting about this ticket.
The ticket is dated 13-14 November 1945 but is overstamped with a "crowned" eagle?
The communists of the Polish Committee of National Liberation (PKWN or Lublin committee) were installed in Lublin in 1944 and they replaced the crowned eagle symbol of the "old" Polish state with an uncrowned Eagle of Piast dynasty Poland.
SS-Unterscharfuehrer Paul Hoffmann was convicted 14 November 1945 by Special Criminal Court in Lublin and was sentenced to the death by hanging which was carried out at Majdanek 23 December 1945.
The transitional (and essentially communist) government, the TRJN, was recognised by the US on 5 July 1945 and soon after by Great Britain and France. In October 1945 delegates of the new Polish communist government signed the United Nations Charter and Poland became a member of the United Nations all before this ticket was stamped with the crowned eagle of the former non-communist government... which makes the over-stamp interesting.
I wonder how many other official Polish documents of November 1945 onwards carried the crowned eagle and not the uncrowned state eagle of the new Poland?
