Hi,
Can one trace his activities or where-abouts by looking at his Urlaubs? from 1939 to 1944?
Many thanks,
Neil.

Hi, well I think at least his whereabouts since the officer/S1 who's signing his leave certificate shows the unit the person was assigned to.
Well, of course we cannot trace his actual activities, but the entries state the place where he spent his leave (which would of course be relevant information if he had his papers checked while en route to and from his destination and while staying there) and the reason for the leave.
The place in all these entries is the same, it's Rügenwalde, a town in Pomerania, now Poland. (Its Polish name is Darłowo.) This was obviously the man's hometown.
The reasons stated for his leaves are:
No. 1 and 2 - Heimaturlaub [= home leave]
No. 3 - Urlaub (Erholung) [= leave (rest and relaxation)]
No. 4 - Arbeitsurlaub [= work leave, probably on his parents' farm]
No. 5 - Erh. Url. [i.e. Erholungsurlaub] [= rest and relaxation leave]
No. 6 - Laz. Url. [i.e. Lazaretturlaub] [= military hospital leave]
No. 7 - Landwirtschaftsgehilfe [= farm hand]
No. 8 - Erholungsurlaub [= rest and relaxation leave]
No. 9 - Lazarett-Urlaub] [= military hospital leave]
No. 10 - Sonderurlaub wegen Erkrankung des Vaters [= special leave due to father's illness]
No. 11 - Sonderurlaub wegen Gefährdung der eigenen Existenz [= special leave due to threat of own subsistence]
No. 12 - Erholungsurlaub [= rest and relaxation leave]
