Visa for occupied Germany - 1950

Here is another interesting passport.

Israel's early and first type of passport, a Laissez-Passer, from end of 1948 used up to the early 1950's, when a general passport was printed.
This travel-document was issued in January 1950 to a Marine/Navy personnel. Interesting is the visa for occupied Germany, for the British Zone, that was added into the passport by the British Consulate at Haifa. Up to 1953 or so, most Israeli passports where not allowed to be used for Germany, unless special permission was done, as we can see by the special one time exit permit for Germany. It seems this passport was issued for a specific trip to Hamburg in 1950.

This is an interesting piece of history. Israel was such a fragile state at this point in time. Thanks for posting.

Very nice!! All of those documents, especially the ones with photos, seem to be much more "alive" than most relics, with a more personal connection to the original owner than most medals or badges.
