Hi Chaps, I've been buying a few death cards recently & trying to research them. I'm a bit confused about this one.

Is he the same man? The places of death are miles apart But his home towns & age are close. Here's the details from German War Graves : -

All looks correct to me, Sologubovka is close to Alexandrovka (very common name for a village).

Not sure what you mean by the places of death being miles apart. The Volksbund entry states that he was killed near Alexandrowka as does his Death Card. Sologubovka is where he is buried now not where he was killed (although judging from the post by Evgeni it is close by anyway).

Always welcome, pretty sure he is. In the area of Leningrad are 5 villages named Alexandrovka. One of them is 12 km from Sologubovka and was an arena of heavy fighting. I know that 4th SS was fighting in Gatchino (old name Krasnogvardeysk) until the 12-13 of September and Alexandrovka near Sologubovka is about 50 km from it, so the division might be transferred but I don't have any info on what the 4th SS was doing between 13 September and late October (Lexikon der Wehrmacht)
