Re: What can you tell me about this photo?
The two guys at the back standing far right are Medics, note the large pouches.
They all appear to be wearing M36 tunics with dark green badge cloth collar.
Farily early war photo by the looks of it.
Cheers, Ade.

Re: What can you tell me about this photo?
Thanks Ade mate. The feldpost appears to be from the Ostfront. So I guess 41/42?

Re: What can you tell me about this photo?
I would certainly not put it as late as 1942. I was thinking more 1940.
The feldgrau collar to the tunic , often called the "M40" by collectors would tend to be seen in photos from 1941/42. Not an exact method of dating it of course, but it gives an indication.
Cheers, Ade.

Re: What can you tell me about this photo?
Yes , more 1940, there is no Y-straps

Re: What can you tell me about this photo?
Hmmm this is interesting. It reinforces my belief that the photo is unrelated to the feldpost. Which is a shame in a way.
Thanks for your opinions and knowledge mates. It is appreciated

Re: What can you tell me about this photo?
G'day Lebus,
27253 is what appears on the envelope. The letter is dated 02 April 1942, and the contents place of the letter (kindly translated by HPL) place it on the Ost front without a doubt.
