I assume everybody is happy with the embroidered, wool weave backing ones thenYes, as Gary replied - titles that have been removed from a period tunic and bear evidence of having once been stitched in place.
Both of these BD tunics bear a type of title that is commonly seen on the market. They are made of a thick scarlet red felt, not commonly seen on verifiably original tunics. Because new ‘surplus’ (unused / unissued) of this type still circulate in the marketplace I have found that more often than not these are the ones found on put together tunics.
These are often considered to be original titles dating from WW2 or the immediate post war period. If so then it’s likely a stash of the unissued ones had been found somewhere.
