For anyone interested here’s a very rare KW now listed on allegro. This cross (#14 in the Krogulec catalogue) was discussed earlier in this thread as possibly being Gontarczyk product based on some research conducted in Poland by an advanced collector. Gontarczyk, who as we all know was the foremost pre-war producer of military badges and the main military issue decorations both for private sales and government contracts (Virtuti Militari, Cross/Medal of Independence, Order of Poland Restored - Polonia Restituta) allegedly decided to jump into KW production rather late – 1939. Production was halted prematurely due to the German/Soviet invasion that year, but a few crosses were produced. This would help explain why these are so rarely seen. I can count on one hand how many I have seen in 15 years of collecting the KW.

. . . and with the large numeral font. An interesting topic with the Type 2 (small 36mm) Knedler crosses.

A small number stamp was introduced during the production of the small pattern crosses, which were serial numbered from 43000-60000. The large number stamp remained in use. I've been tracking them on crosses I've encountered over the years and there seems to be no rhyme or reason with the dispersal of the large and small serial numbers in the Type 2's. Both crop up here and there throughout the production range. One thing we do know is the final batch of crosses had the large numbers, as per Tomek's 59702.
