One never knows what the future holds. But it’s a safe bet that I’d be further ahead today had I put more money into buying militaria and less into the stock market . . .

    Mr. Moderator,
    You are too kind.
Yes of course, it did indeed belong to a rather high ranking officer.
    Respectfully,
    Ivan
    Hi Ivan,

May I ask for who this high ranking officer was?

    Cheers,

    Robert

Certainly. It belonged to General Ludomił Rayski, commander of the Polish Air Force from 1926-1939.

Wow! You weren't kidding about it being a high ranking officer!! I can't resist asking if by chance you have any other items that belonged to General Rayski - ?

    Regards,
    Tony

The secret is: hard work, and a good network of contacts. I seldom if ever buy items on eBay or at auctions.

The general's grouping was uncovered through good detective work. I do have other items from him and will post pics as time permits.

Next, here are some pages from a photo album. It contains pictures taken both during the General's life (from before, during and after WW2), and after his death (from ceremonies in Poland at which some of his medals and awards were repatriated to the Polish nation).
