Identifying a Polish Medal

This medal has been passed through our family and recently it made it's way to me. It belonged to my GreatX3 Grandfather. I believe he served during WW1 and that's when this was awarded but that's all I know about it. Any information would be fantastic.

Hi Yazbremski and welcome to the forum. This decoration is known as General Haller’s Swords, in Polish “Miecze Hallerowskie”. These were awarded to those who voluntered for service in General Haller’s Army, sometimes called the “Blue Army” by virtue of the light blue uniforms issued to them by the French. Your example is marked “Ameryka”, indicating that your ancestor was a volunteer from North America.
