The Order of Poland Restored (Polonia Restituta)

I found the following photograph on the internet, which shows an investiture at the Royal Palace in Warsaw showing the President of the Polish Republic Ignacy Moscicki about to present the Grand Cross and Star in the case held by the President to French General Maurice Gamelin. Notice that General Dyw Edward Smigly Rydz is also in the photograph wearing his Grand Cross sash etc.

I feel very much the odd man out because I mostly collect PRL era awards, but here is my 3rd class Polonia Restituta. Finding a 2nd or 1st class 1944 cross (and star) seems to be quite the challenge!

While you may be in sparse company here, the numbers of PRL collectors are increasing and consequently the market value of the militaria of this era. The 1st and 2nd Classes do seem to come up for sale not too infrequently, at least from my observation, so keep your feelers out and you’ll eventually bag one or both.

Thanks for sharing the photo, although the cross would fit better in a thread for this decoration in the PRL/LWP section that has not yet been created . . .

No problems at all. A genuine example on issue ribbon. Likely a Gontarczyk product.
