Hi Jannis, congrats on your new acquisition and thanks for sharing it with us. My bet is that this is a Marius Delande made cross as evidence exists that this Paris based producer manufactured these for private purchase.

    Tony

    Hello Everyone,

Whilst surfing I came across the following portrait painted by Jacek Malczewski in 1923 of General Dyw Aleksander Truszkowski who was awarded the Officers Cross of the Order Polonia Restituta on the 29th December 1921.

Born on the 2nd February 1860, he died on the 5th March 1933 in Krakow.

An award diploma like this to a senior officer . . . not an everyday sight to say the least! Congrats again on another museum grade acquisition, and thanks for sharing with us

Default Spink Polonia Restituta - good or bad?

    Hello everyone
I recently bought from a Flea Market this Polonia Restituta which resembles a Spink product. Can you tell me wherther it is original and when can it be dated (ww2 or postwar issue) ?
    Thank you very much

    Hello Sever,

Yes, Spink pattern, and looks genuine. The enamel in your photo appears to be yellowing. Late Spink products used synthetic enamels that yellowed, so this would be a sure sign of relatively recent manufacture. The date of manufacture is unknown, but these are often thought to be from the 1970’s.

Thank you very much Mr. Tony. Somehow I had a small hope that I had acquired a ww2 item but it is ok. The order is in good condition and relatively well preserved. I paid for it 50 $. Is it worth?
    Best regards from Romania
