    Hi,

I have been aced by Tony to post some pics of the Japanese script on the box from the Commander Cross with Star of the Order of Poland Restored. The script is only saying: "the Commander Cross with Star of the Order of Poland Restored". Please help me to find who might have been awarded this order.

    regards, Michael

Michael, thank you for posting this. Most interesting. It's unfortunate that there's no name contained in the Japanese text. As such it’s pretty well impossible we’ll identify the recipient of this decoration, but hopefully someone here will be able to provide you with some information that at least identifies the Japanese recipients of the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Poland Restored. Please don't hesitate to post more pictures of this 3rd class cross.

    Regards,
    Tony

    Hi Tony,

As I've said before this is second class, as I do have star to come with this order. The Japanese script at the back is also saying "the Commander Cross with Star of the Order of Poland Restored". There was only 276 recipients of the 2nd class and not many of them were Japanese so hopefully I will be able to track who was awarded it. I will try to post some more pics of in the next few days.

    best regards,
    Michael

Hi Michael, thanks for setting me straight as to class. I was of course focusing on that case on its own, which served as a 3rd class award. But when coupled with a star it created the equivalent of the 2nd class. This might explain why the 2nd Class awards with cross and star in a single case are so seldom seen.

Does your star’s case also have Japanese script on it?

Looking forward to your other pics

    Regards,
    Tony

    Hi Tony,

I have managed to track down a few photographs of Japanese recipients of the Polish Order Polonia Restituta, notably Japanese General Iwane Matsui who with General Shigeyasu Suziki visited Warsaw in late April 1929.

I have included the photographs below of their arrival at Warsaw Station and of investiture

They were greeted at Warsaw Station by General Kwasniewski

The Banquet was hosted by General Tadeusz Piskor along with General Kwasniewski

I will post others when I have more time

    Best wishes

Why do some of the Polish Order Polonia Restituta have a hallmark and others do not?
