The so called "Spring of Nations" of 1848. This poster/communique is from "National Krakow Comitee". That day the austrian rulers had published new constitution: and one of the things were that there were no more serfdom in an attempt to make it look like they care.

The poster says: "That the communique that is currently posted by the austrian government that says that as of 15 May 1848 there is no more serfdom is an attempt to get the serf on their side. The truth is that the squires themselves had done away with serfdom, that the austrian government had nothing to do with it. It ends with "Long live Poland free in equality and brotherhood off all of its children under the care of their Queen Holiest Mother of God from Czestochowa.
People were actually sent with that communique all over the city and in the vicinity to spread the word.

    Again, very impressive collection itakdalej.

Seeing that this thread has morphed to include posters I'll share one of my personal favorites that issued on the eve of WW2. A little worse for wear, but the damage from being pulled off a wall as a souvenir seems to add something that conveys the violence that was to be unleashed across the globe. Dated August 30th 1939 it announces general mobilization the following day - one day before that fateful Friday . . .

Altough not technically a military correspondence here is a contract dated 31 October 1795 signed in town of Bochnia, southern Poland, at the time these terrains (Galicia) belonging to Austria. Last Polish partition was in 1795. The contract is between His Majesty's (Austria) Tax Office and Jozef Dabski squire of Wojnicz. It allows Dabski to collect profits from alcohol making breweries in Discrict 139: town of Wojnicz, Zamoscie, for a period of one year by having Dabski pay tax in the amount of 350 gulden and 30 groszy. He is allowed to pay quarterly instalments of 88 florint and 52 4/8 groszy. That dokument was made in three copies, one for Dabski, one for Tax Office and one to the highest offices of country of His Majesty's. It is written both in german and in Polish as it was custom then. The documents is slightly cut off by my scanner.

Here is a letter to the City Mayor and city councel of Gorlice, southern Poland. It is dated both the 9th January 1694 and 14 January 1694. In 1694 there was a major fire that destoyed the city. Letter is written in german.
It has a wax stamp that is a city crest: lion holding keys.
