Here is a good reference book by WOJCIECH STELA

While this book is principally in Polish the descriptions are also in English and German. It is 254 pages long, hundreds of black and white photographs, sadly no color photos of badges. It also has listings of manufacturers ( gravurs) and tons of paperwork, ( legitymacja) The original photos of the early military units are fascinating on thee own. Anyone interested in collecting the early 20th century would enjoy having this reference book. It includes appendixes that list units, recipients of orders, etc.

    Polskie Odznaki Honorowe I Pamiatkowe
    1914-1918 & 1918-1921 (wojny o granice panstwa)

    Polish Honor and Commemorative Badges
    1914-1918 & 1918-1921 (warfare to establish the country's borders)

    Polnische Ehrenzeichen Und Erinnerungsabzeichen
    1914-1918 & 1918-1921 ( Krieg um die Grenzen)

It even features a section on fantasy badges.....badges that appear in other scholarly references as legitimate or authentic.

    cheers,

I boughta number of copies of the book from the author at the ASMIC show a few years back. They are $35 each plus shipping new in the original wrapper.

Most definitely a book worth acquiring. Soft cover printed n good quality paper, although as Piwo says, unfortunately only black and white photos of the obverse of badges. More useful for identification of the many obscure commemorative badges issued in these years than as a handbook for authentication.

A nice bonus is a short succinct summary of the border conflicts that spawned these badges. These serve as a helpful backdrop, putting these badges into historical context of what was a very turbulent time for the newly reborn republic.

Here is my "Book of Glory of the Infantry" published in Warsaw in 1937-39, this one belonged to 17th Infantry Regiment library before the war.
The man in charge of editorial committee was (then) Col Prugar-Ketling.

Also it shows history, flags, badges of all pre-war Infantry Regiments. Most of current references basically copied info from this book and some added color badge pictures.
