Here are two examples of map cases.

Polish and soviet. Easily confused by their similar size.
The Polish case is well marked and has a felt separtion between sections.

The Soviet one does not and is about 10 % smaller.

I do hope my Polish map case is not a repro...

    cheers,

    Hello Piwo
Unfortunately this map case is typical postwar Sygnatures are fake.

    Hi Orkan,

Thanks for the info on the photo date. I’d like to find out more info about this particular photograph as it’s always been a favorite. This is a scan of an original Pikiel print. Do you know where it was taken, and what the occasion was for a public speech? Also, Rydz-Śmigły’s hand cover the face of a senior officer in a wz.27 rogatywka (even though the wz.35 regulations were already technically in force as evidenced by Rydz-Śmigły’s cap) – any idea who this is? Lastly, who’s the civilian on the left and the young chap standing behind the marshal?

Now to get back on topic –

    >>> I think that Wz.36 and wz.24 also had no hook on the sabre. <<<

I’ll check to see if the wz.24 belt had the hook.

I wrote in the parallel thread where this is being discussed that there’s no denying this belt does not strictly meet the wz.36 specifications. The questions raised: could it have been adapted for use by replacing the brass parts with white metal? How stringently were wz.36 requirements applied when it came to belt wear? (Asked previously): Were white metal fittings ever used on Sam Brown belts in Britain, France, elsewhere? You mention Holland as a possible origin of this belt, maybe someone can verify this.

    Regards,
    Tony
    Hello Tony
All wz.24 that I saw (including my own) didn't have the hook. Please look also on the seams in original belts. In belt from ebay seamps are completely different than in polish belts.

Photo with marshal Śmigły is from Katowice. Presents a speech after the field mass to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the III Silesian Uprising.

    Orkan,

Thanks for the observation. Well, all that glitters is not gold...the irregular stamping made me suspect along with its excellent condition. Sadly, the source of the this piece had sold me some excellent items previously so I placed a great deal of trust in that person. Whether he knowingly sold me a altered piece...well, that's for him and his conscience to resolve.

    Hi again Orkan,

First off, thanks for the additional information on the Rydz-Śmigły’ photo. Now if only to identify some of the others on the stage . . .

Re the belt, posted below, again from the Henryk Wielecki book “Polski Mundur Wojskowy 1918-1939” is the wz.24 officer’s belt. A hook is clearly shown in this illustration.

I’ll try to dig through some photos from the period to see if I can find any photographic evidence.

    Regards,
    Tony

Collecting has been going a little slow for me, & I havent posted on the forum in a long time
My thoughts about this grouping is that its a put together. The wz.35 rogatywka has wz.19 side buttons ( I may be wrong :P )
The tunic appears to have relic buttons, including some greatcoat buttons which were not used on tunis (They`re bigger then tunic buttons)
I doubt the badge is original, the quality isnt what I would expect to find on a genuine pre-war badge.
I also think the breeches are made by a private tailor and not military issue.
    Hope I helped

    Hello Pawel,

Many thanks for sharing the fascinating pictures

It would be great to see the description tags for each of these uniforms on display. Do you have pictures of them?

    Regards and thanks again,
    Tony
