I am attaching a photo of an unknown relative named Sokolowski and the note that was written on the back of the photo. I would appreciate insights that anyone may have about it.

Most likely Mr. Sokolowski served in light artillery unit and this picture was taken between 1923-27. Nice picture.

Welcome to the forum kdex. Can you clarify what you mean by "Glekeon"?

The soldier in the photo is a private, and he is holding a wz.21/22 saber.

    Tony

I think he is referring to what is written under Sokołowski, it seems to look like says Glekeon, however i would say maybe the handwriting gives a misconception to what is written..... I can really read what it says maybe its an unusual first name.

Cenowski, thanks for clearing that up. I had read that writing as “Aleksander”.

This is a photo of an unknown relative? The name on the back is Oleg Geminder. All I remember is that my mother told me he was from Tarnow, Poland. The photo would have been taken somewhere around 1918 - 1919 Can anyone shed some light on his uniform? Or anything else?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

I believe the uniform is Austro-Hungarian.

    Cheers, Ade.
