    Stefan ,
    Thank You !!!!!!!

I think this badge of Beitar - young military zionist organization in Poland pre WWII
...and therefore a very rare badge, thank you for posting!

There must be a whole area of Jewish organisation badges produced in pre-WWII Poland that remain to be researched and recorded.

There is no further mention of Grawer M. Szabason in the two later 1940 - 1942 telephone directories of German occupied Warsaw so one must assume he was incarcerated in the ghetto and probably perished some time thereafter.

I will try and find out more, I do know the jeweller was in business at least from 1925.

    update:

ulica Nowy Swiat was one of the most fashionable shopping streets in pre-WWII Warszawa so a very good address for a jewellery business. The street was heavily destroyed during the siege of Warsaw in 1939. Below are before and after images:

In the Lodz business directory 1937-39 there I found this reference:

Szabason Judasz graw, 6 Sierpnia 30

So this might be another of the family jewellery making businesses as the "Szabason" family name is not that common.

In the 1926/1927 Poland and Danzig Business Directory (Trade, Industry, Handicraft, and Agriculture) I found this reference:

    Rytownicy (graveurs): Szabason M., 3 Maja. Rytownicy=Engraver

    <<< Update >>>

Digging a bit further I think the "M" in the above entry is for "Mendel" as I found a further interwar reference:

Jeweller, Mendel Szabason (3 Maja 10), Zamosc

Which is probably the same as the initial 1926/27 directory listing.

Default And the survey says?? 36th and 7th Infantry

    Gentlemen,

Here are two badges that I have had since before I even had a book on collecting Polish militaria..which might explain a lot.

I am confident that you all will be very objective. I look forward to your feedback.

    thanks.

Hi Paul, they both appear OK to me. No immediate problems apparent, at least to these ageing eyes. Good looking badges and spinners.

    Cheers,
    Tony

    Hi there,

Tony is right - both badges are genuine with proper nuts, moreover the badge of the 36th Infantry Regiment is made in silver - its another officer variant, which is more popular, was made in tombac.

    Regards,
    Jacek

    Default 4th PPS badge

    Gentlemen,

Here is an example that I did not find in Sawicki & Wielchowski's book. It is a solid badge not cut out like shown on page 31.

Is this a commemorative badge an enlisted mans version?

Thanks for all the feedback, it is most appreciated.
