    Submarine ORP Ryś

During the pre-war months of 1939, Polish school children were encouraged to save their pocket money to help purchase submarines. ORP Ryś was a Polish mine-laying submarine belonging to the Wilk class. Ryś means “Lynx” in English. The escape of the battle-damaged submarine from the German Navy to neutral Swedish waters during the September 1939 campaign captured the imagination of schoolboys throughout Poland. ORP Ryś was interned in Sweden Sept 18 1939 until war's end.

Around 20 years ago i met a girl in Sweden and went to her house to say hello to her parents, i noticed a few polish flags and asked him about it, he told me that they all came from the polish ww2 subs that were interned in Sweden.

He was an old Swedish officer.....wonder if he still have them...
