The M-O-D where still issuing WW2 Stars and Medals upto a few years ago to those that never received them these have a large suspension ring as Tony pointed out. Gone are the days when these where just a £1 or less, I remember a dealer that I visited once came back from purchasing a large cloth bag full of British Stars and Medals there where more than 200.
The one star that is copied is the Sir Crew Europe Star, but no doubt someone somewhere has started to copy these.
Do you have any other items from your grandfather’s service in the 2nd Corps?

The copy Stars are usually sold (especially on Fake-bay) as "Replacement medals" don't be taken in ,They all lack detail & definition, Anyway in the main the price they charge for a so called "replacement" would in most case's get you a genuine Star with of course the exception of the Aircrew of Europe Star & The Arctic Star.
