Polish Hat Eagles

Article about: In my opinion this particular cap eagle was made by G.J. Garratt Toronto. Very unique, hard to find.

3DSK - Thank You for a philosophical response.

I know it is PAF French Pattern (reasonably rare if original) –
The genesis of my question is that i have never seen a genuine ones (for example on the hats at Sikorski Institute) for me to form educated judgement on this particular one.

From what i learned original Eagles of this type had been made with oxida / silver effect or casted in brass.
There are some pictures in Zawistowki Book too + i have some picture of Polish Pilots in France – but Eagles on them are very small due to distance + all is b&w.

Anyway – if You have some relevant info please share.

I am curious, how can you think its a repro if you dont know what it is?

Even Zawistowki may not know all there is to be known
    I collect, therefore I am.

Nothing in science can explain how consciousness arose from matter.

I agree with 4thskorpion! In Zawistowski book there are not all of eagles!

but most of them. To me looks bit suspisious. Should be oxida as you said and same colour of mounting wire. However, can be unknown variations... I would keep that one.

    Marcin - Thank You.
Do You have some pictures of this Eagle Pattern to compare?
I am really puzzled about this find.
It is not easy for me to take a part of a day off and go to Sikorski Institute to check this Eagle out.
Therefore, i am counting on collective wisdom / experience Fellows on this forum.
    All sugestions appreciated

I got only Zawistowski book. I never seen that one "live". I will say again, if do not cost a fortune I would buy it.

There's a brass and silver "English" version of the PAF badge on page 1 of this thread.

    Fellows

Here is my latest opportunistic acquisition.

    Free Polish Navy Eagle

Badge looks good, but again with my natural scepticism and relatively small experience with Free Eagles,
I am not sure if it is OK.

    • It appears slightly different the ones post by Kristof on page 10 of this forum (the fastening of the pin, actual material etc)
    • There is a strange colour at the back
    • It look casted not stamped
    • The back appear to have some “bubbles” on the back that may suggest crude casting
    • Anchor appears just cover with gold colour and not actually made of brass

Your advice would really be appreciated as many of You have been doing Eagles for considerable period of time and must have seen good ones over years.
