Any information on a Jerzy (Jurek) Gach of command (dowództwo) squadron 4th Armoured Regiment would be most welcome... he was my late father's best buddy but lost track after my father enlisted with British Army, Royal Armoured Corps in 1948.
Jerzy (Jurek) Gach is on the left of the photo my father on the right.

Did he settle in the UK after the war?
I came up with this entry for a death:
Name:
Jerzy Gach
Birth Date: 1 Nov 1925
Date of Registration: Mar 2005
Age at Death:79
Registration district: Brent
Inferred County: Middlesex

Hi Ade,
Yes he did. Many thanks for the info, now I wish I had tried to find out much earlier I had a vague thought he might have died in the 1980s.

Hi Ade,
Because of the information you provided me about Jerzy Gach, today I have been able to find out a little more about Jerzy from the Warsaw Rising Museum:
Jerzy Gach pseudonym "Lej or Funnel" (born in Łódź on 01-11-1925)
Participation in the conspiracy, 1939-1944
Warsaw District Armii Krajowej - I Obwód "Radwan" (Śródmieście) - XI zgrupowanie im. Chrobrego (battalion "Chrobry") - 4 company
Armia Krajowa - Grupa Północ - Group North - odcinek "Kuba"-"Sosna" - battalion "Chrobry I" - sapper platoon under por. "Grzywy - Mane" (Stanisław Dąbrowski)
German POW no. 105 562
No reference to which POW camp but I think it was most likely Stalag VIIIB/344 Lamsdorf as many soldiers from the Warsaw Rising were imprisoned at Lamsdorf and his POW number is part of a sequence of numbers (although his no. is missing) in a Lamsdorf database list which I found of 556 Polish PoWs from the Rising but unfortunately the list is not 100% complete and skips some no.s in the sequence:
Barański Zygmunt Wojciech "Lis" — No. 105,599 — DoB. 18.03.1927
Rakowski Jerzy Feliks — No. 105,602 — DoB. 15.05.1927
This is the link to the Polish PoWs from the Rising in Lamsdorf database (.xls file)
So thanks again for providing the initial info
