Hi Tony and the other experts who give of so much of their time

I personally feel very privileged and grateful that you all take the time to answer so many of my queries and to explain why some things are genuine and others probably not.

Tony, that is a great series of explanations - thank you.

I have another. These look like a great collection what do you think?

    Many thanks

    James

This is a kite directly from a veteran .. and is 100% ..

Problem these days, is that these ARE being copied to a fairly high standard ..

    Basic rules ....
They were stamped in brass, flash plated, and thus a couple of polishings wares through to the brass.
The back fixing is a prong vee pointed at both ends, lightly soldered on.
The details however must be there ... parachutists belt, boots, and clearly defined rigging lines ..
    No rough cast aluminium ....

brass would indicate early production, copper was to follow.

Hi James, thank you for your kind words. The time that goes into answering questions is well worth the effort knowing that it helps promote an interest in the hobby, the preservation of history, and hopefully helps some collectors avoid potentially costly mistakes. I’m certainly no expert on all areas of the hobby, so the added bonus is meeting fellow enthusiasts through which I often learn new things as well.

In reply to your question about the metal Boeri insignia, it all appears entirely genuine. A desirable and scarcely seen complete set in great condition.

    Cheers,
    Tony

Tony, thank you for your observations. They are very valuable to someone wanting to learn more about the subject and will remain on here as a reference.

As I have already said this is not my area of expertise, I am just selling them on eBay as a favour.

    Regards
    Jack

    4th Skorpion Armoured Regiment

Any chance that this is the real thing?

    Many thanks

It is the real thing. The skorpion is correct, the thread is correct, the two wires coming holding it are correct, as well as a nice patina to it. The only difference is that it is unnumbered. Some badges were produced without a number, which was a common practice probably as replacements or extras.

    Hi Dorava

I think it has been sold so it looks as though someone has picked up a little gem in time for Christmas.

Many thanks for your comments. Very full and great learning for me.

    Happy Christmas

    James

    Your welcome...
but I think we should get 4th Skorpion or A.J. Zawadzki to comment on it
They have seen many of these and I am interested in seeing if they agree

The 4th Arm'd Regiment badge looks A-OK to me.
