I don't like the BD's featured for all the reason already stated.

Good original British BD used to be available in quantity, all mint unissued, with various dates. Most were Austerity pattern but some were pure 1937 pattern. These BD's still come up on the market, but they are much harder to find now. Most have been swallowed up into collections. Many have been badged up over the years. Back in the 1980's you could buy a BD mint unissued for as low as £2.50. I remember buying some at that and then selling them for £5 and I thought I was making a "killing" (A big profit) I should have kept them!

    Cheers, Ade.

    dorava,

Just like the last one, doesn't impress me in the least. Same ‘surplus’ shoulder titles as the last one, so often seen on the put-togethers. Looks like it was all stitched up this morning. Anyone want to wager that the tunics visible in the pic sitting just behind this one are also as fresh looking on unissued surplus austerity pattern tunics? . . .

    Regards,
    Tony

I suppose you could class a "non-surplus" as an original title sewn onto an original BD (either a clean one, .. or one missing the titles) post WW2.

Yes, as Gary replied - titles that have been removed from a period tunic and bear evidence of having once been stitched in place.

Both of these BD tunics bear a type of title that is commonly seen on the market. They are made of a thick scarlet red felt, not commonly seen on verifiably original tunics. Because new ‘surplus’ (unused / unissued) of this type still circulate in the marketplace I have found that more often than not these are the ones found on put together tunics.

These are often considered to be original titles dating from WW2 or the immediate post war period. If so then it’s likely a stash of the unissued ones had been found somewhere.

    Regards,
    Tony

    It's the old story I guess ..

Light restoration (Titles and very basic cloth clearly removed from original) against total fabrication (Addition of non-qualified medal ribbons and regimental insignia)

Re the RAF service dress jacket. I would have expected to see "Poland" titles?

    Cheers, Ade.
