Hello Wayupnorth,
Would I be correct in thinking that you are refering to the 2nd Armoured Brigade later 2nd Warsaw Armoured Division, unless they served with SBSK during the defence of Tobruk. Then you would be correct, they would have had to serve in theatre to receive the star.
Best wishes

Hello James,
In response to your question when Pilots arrived in the UK they wore the Royal Air Force wings, has set down in RAF Regulations, then later in the war they sometimes wore smaller RAF wings on the right above the breast pocket.
Hope that this answers your question

Thanks A. So if they were serving when at Tobruk, they would be entitled to Africa Star. My father was there but did not get the Africa Star.

Hello wayupnorth,
So your father has the SBSK Badge and legit, have you been able to obtain a copy of his service record from the MOD in the UK, that would list all his awards.
