Hello Everyone,
I just thought that you might like to see the following medal group which belonged to Sierzant Stanisław Mitek 10th Dragoons Regiment.
His Military Medal citation states: "On the 13 Sep 44 in the village of KEMZEKE, Pte MITEK being a member of Bren-gun carrier crew which was sent out to make a recce of the village, showed great courage and self-sacrifice by leaving the carrier after it was fired at by enemy fire, in the result of which the driver was killed and he himself wounded, in spite of his wounds he attacked the enemy position and using hand grenades liquidated it. He also brought the Bren-gun carrier back to his unit.", the recommendation coming from the Officer Commanding 10 Polish Motor Battalion (Dragoons), the Major General of the 1st Polish Armoured Division, in conjunction with Lieutenant-General G.G. Simonds, Commander, II Canadian Corps.
The moment of award of the Military Medal
By the end of the war he had been promoted to Sierzant, notice the Army Medal has been mounted on the KW Ribbon 1918-1921.
Best wishes
Andrzej

Kind regards, Pieter.
