    Middle Row : Army Medal, Monte Cassino Cross, 1918-1921 War Medal, 10th Anniversary of Independence Medal.

    Bottom Row : British M.B.E. (Mily), 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star, 1939-1945 War Medal.

    Missing from the above and awarded are the 20 & 10 Years Long Service Medals and the British Defence Medal.

    Born 4th April 1893 in Skierniewice, he served in the 1st Artillery Regiment in the Legions during WW1, by 1927 he was the Head of the Armament Section of the Ministry of Military Affairs.

    1st January 1935 Head if Armament Technical Institute.

    1940-1941 Attached to Headquarters Staff London

    1941-145 Head of the Military Technical Institute in London

    Awarded the C.B.E. (Mil) 4th October 1943

    1946 returned to Poland where he died on the 25th August 1957.

    Hello Everyone,

    Another day of surfing and more finds,


    Pułkownik dypl. Andrzej Bronisław Bruno Liebich, Born 12th August 1893, during the war he served as Military Attache in Lisbon and then Madrid between August 1940 and May 1942. In June 1942 he was made head of the General Office in the Ministry of National Defence, in the Polish Government in Exile in London.

    He had been awarded the KW x 2, SKZ, and the British awarded him with a C.B.E. (Military Division)

    After the end of the war he settled in Canada where he died on the 8th February 1958 in Montreal.

    During the War after helping in the clandestine evacuation of Polish military personnelfrom France in 1940 he established an intelligence service that reported to General Sikorski Headquarters in London.

    In July 1941 he left London for Algiers where he sent up an Intelligence gathering organisation, the information he supplied the American and British Forces was used in the planning of the Amphibious landings which began on the 8th November 1942 "Operation Torch".

    For his work he received the Gold Cross of Merit with Swords (ZKZzM) in August 1943 and from the Americans he was decorated with the Legion of Merit (Officers Cross)by General Jacob Devers (photograph of the ceremony is below) :

    Along with General Anders General dyw. Józef Ludwik Zając also received the Honorary Companion of the Order of the Bath,

    Companion of the Order of the Bath

    Awarded the Order in recognition of his work has Inspector of Training of the Polish Armed Forces in the West from 1943-1945 and his previous work in Posts both in the UK and the Middle East.

    His son Podporucznik Jan Antoni Zajac fought at Monte Cassino with the 2nd Corps.

    Hello Everyone,

    One of the awards made Posthumously was the Military Cross to Major Marian Leopold Marcin Bartosiński, Born 13th May 1908, after graduating from Officer Cadets School posted to the 14 Pulk Piechoty (14th Infantry Regiment).

    Promoted to Porucznik on the 1st January 1936, Transferred to Armoured Officers Corps, on the 23rd March he was posted to the 4th Armoured Battalion, in the September Campaign he was commander of the 1st Platoon 92nd Independent Tank Company, part of the 4BPanc of Army "Łódź". He evaded capture and made his way to France and then onto the UK.

    Promoted to Kapitan on the 7th April 1944 he was then in Command of the 2nd Squadron of the 1st Armoured Regiment, within 5 Months he had been promoted to Major and was killed in Action at Ijpellar near Breda and was buried in the Polish War Cemetery at Lommel.

    Awarded the Virtuti Militari Silver Cross Nr : 10349 and the Cross of Valour, he was awarded the Bar to the Cross of Valour Posthumously as well as the Army Medal and the British Military Cross.

    I have only been able to find a photograph of Marian Bartosiński when a Podporucznik between 1933 and 1936 which I have posted below :

    Hello Everyone,

    I came across the following photograph which I thought I would share with you all :

    British Awards for Polish Soldiers

    21st January 1944, RAF Uxbridge, AVM Hugh Saunders AOC 11 Group awarding the DFC to Squadron Leader Wacław Król CO of 302 Polish Fighter Sqdn. Also seen directly behind AVMM Saunders is Squadron Leader Jan Falkowski Polish Liaison Officer to 11 Group.

    I have also found a better photograph (previously shown in Post 6) of F/Lt (Por.) P1991/793655 pilot Włodzimierz Klisz known as "Papa", who had flown over 13,000 hours in over 150 different types of planes. Born 18th March 1893 in Ulicz, Died in London on the 31st July 1969. He was awarded the Air Force Cross as well as the SKZzM ML x 4.

    Por Kazimierz Nienartowicz whilst serving in the Machine Gun Company of 15PP in 1941/42, he went to Italy with the 2nd Corps serving in the 5BCKM (5th Heavy Machine Gun Battalion), 5th Kresowa Infantry Division, Born in 1909, Army Nr : 1909-67-III, Unit : 5BCKM, 5KDP, MCC Nr : 24470

    He was promoted to Kapitan and went on to win the following award as per the recommendation serving with the 10BS :
