    Thank you so much for your comprehensive reply. Yes, I think we can safely assume that MCC 17839 is indeed the one awarded to Zygmunt Borecki. Sadly missing from the DNW sale lot though.

    Lt.colonel/ppłk. MOTYKA Feliks Józef.Born 19 June 1898 in Lviv - died April 15, 1958 in Leszno.Father Józef, mother Maria nee Paliwoda. During the First World War he worked physically in a bakery in Lviv and then in the Lviv train station. Lviv defender: soldier IV section Dworzec Główny 4-22 XI 1918. Then in the second baon of the 2nd regiment of Lviv rifles, then in the 39th Infantry Regiment. In 1920 he fought in the composition of the 5th Infantry Division. In 1925 he completed his officer school in Bydgoszcz:2nd LieutenantRawicz)Up to July 15, 1927, promoted to LieutenatLeszno). In the September 1939 campaign, a mobilization officer at the Backup Center of the 14th Infantry Division Joined along with a group of officers with 55 Regiment Ifantry to 39 Infantry Division. On September 29, 1939, after the capitulation of Biłgoraj, he entered Lviv. Arrested by the Soviets in X 1939 in the Tarnopol region, imprisoned in Stanisławów.Diversionary activity sent to camp in Tomsk, where he stayed until 1941. With the Anders Gen. army left the USSR: (6th Battalion 6th Infantry Division of Lviv - as captain of 2nd Company commander ), then in 6th Armored Regiment - commander of the commanding squadron. On 19 V 1944 seconded to the commander of the 2nd Corps and deputy commander of the 4th Armored Regiment. After wounding Lt. Col. Tomicki, commander of the 6th Armored Regiment from 24th May 1944.Injured under Badia: 7 July 1944 and 16 April 1945 under Poggio Picolo. On 1 August 1944, he was appointed Lieutenant Colonel in the Corps of Armored Personnel Officers: Ordinance NW L.dz.1606/tj/Pers/44 z 2 VIII 1944.He returned to the countryPoland) in X 1947. Married with Bronisława nee Wadowska,son Andrzej 1934- 2001.

    look this:

    Many thanks for your post, with reference to Pplk Feliks Motyka, his Army Number was : 1898-152-III whilst Rtm. Stanisław Stryjewski His Army Number was : 1909-170-III awarded the Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 38150 was serving with the PUK photograph attached showing Rtm. Stanisław Stryjewski whilst serving with PUK.

    After the end of the war Major Stanisław Stryjewski left the UK bound for Argentina his date of birth was given as 1909.

    I hope that this answers your question Artur, even Authors sometimes get their facts wrong.

    Hello Everyone,

    I found the following photograph whilst searching the internet, Pancerny (Tankman) Bogusław Znicz-Niedźwiecki, born in 1923, Army Number : 1923-56-III, Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 30967, Unit : P6Pancerny (6th Armoured Regiment). This post war photograph shows that he joined up again after he emigrated to the US.

    I will complete this post from the annex of the book Semper Fidelis:
    Niedźwiecki Bogusław Znicz was born on 13 V 1925 in Sławutyn. Died 18 V 1987 in Chicago USA. Officer of the Lviv Children's Army, radio operator in the tank of the 1st squadron. After the war on emigration, for 30 years in the service of the United States.Content army number 1925-56-III. .
    Leszek Znicz was born in 1923 in Slawutyn, Bogusław's brother, a soldier of the 6th Dyon Recognition, and then a p6p in the 1st Squadron.Reverse brothers' birthdays:
    Leszek 1925, Bogusław 1923. In my files I have crosses from the auction:30596;30951:Andrzej information about soldiers for me unnecessary.
    30949:I have saved as:Wójcik Józef W. Army number 1911-158-III.
    I wanted to add: Monte Cassino cross recipients 2 PolCorps Unit:
    14-750: Headqurters 2 nd Corps Staff: Leg No. 671: Baon Staff 2 Corps
    48787: ID No4: unit 488 House of the Healers.I add fotos.
