Hi Andrzej,

Thankyou so much for that. I haven't been able to find out much about him at all. He died 3 months before I was born, and I am unaware of any relatives I may have in Poland. I think that he came back to England to a camp in Beaconsfield and then stayed here. I doubt I would be able to get a copy of his service record as I don't have his death certificate and my mother wouldn't be able to help get them either as she is in a care home with dementia.

ANY information that you or anyone else can give me will mean the world to me.

Hello Tina,

Many thanks for your post and reply, I am sorry to read that your Mother is in a care home and hope that she is well and is receiving good care.

Tina you can apply for your Father's Death Certificate and then being his daughter you would be able to apply for a copy of his Service Record both from the British Ministry of Defence (who unfortunately charge now for this service, if you do apply be sure to ask for copies of all records that they hold both Polish and English.

The Polish Military Records Centre in Rembertow, I have only used once and I managed to obtain a contact through the Polish Ambassador when asking for a copy of the Service Record of General of Brigade Bronisław Stanisław Chruściel, I was surprised when a large envelope arrived from the Polish Embassy. In which was contained copies of his service record from 1918-1939, admittedly your father would not have as much, but it is worth the cost of a stamp.

Anyway Tina, my medication is making me sleepy, so for now.
