Dear Andrej and Artur, I'm so sorry for wasting your time, I hadn't read the thread and that it relates to the MC cross. I don't think grand dad was on casino according to my mother he was too busy having a good time to do any real fighting. HAHA. I just wanted to know what he did or what unit he was in as I know absolutely nothing except that he was in Siberia and the middle east and Italy. That much ive got from his photos but his insignia don't give anything away.

    Hello Majchrzii and welcome.

Until recently it was thought to be 48821. Recent research states that the final issued Monte Cassino cross was numbered 48847:

This information was brought to you courtesy of Andrzej and The Polish Institute and General Sikorski Museum. It was compiled by Dr. Mark Ostrowski. Recent research has established that the initial figures . . . were miscalculated and in fact the last known cross given to a named recipient was 48847. The complete list of named recipients is at the Polish Institute and Sikorski Museum in File AXII/85/214, Folders 1-19

I am looking to find as much information about my great-grandfather as possible.

Maybe somebody can help me in finding more about Kapral Boleslaw Bielski (MCC 31013)?

Your help would be much appreciated.

    All the best,
    Simona
