Many thanks for your post I have not been able to lay my hands on my copy of the following book, "Przyczynki do historii żandarmerii odrodzonego Wojska Polskiego".

The book was written by Plk Władysław Weirzbicki in 1990 in London, I could not get the isbn for you although I managed to find a photograph of the cover for you.



That is the best I can offer you at this moment, I had a pipe burst earlier in the year in my study and things got moved and thrown out, if I do come across it I will let you know.

Thank you for recommending the book. The story is clear. As you suspected my grandfather was not in Italy during the Battle of Monte Cassino. The 2nd Military Police Squadron was moved from Rehevot, Palestine to camp Quassasin in Egypt in March 1944. That explains the absence of the Monte Cassino Cross among the medals of my grandfather.
