    Hello,

I bought this group earlier today and would like to get a little more info on it. The Monte Cassino Cross is #12717. I was also wondering what two medals I am missing. As I have a bar but two medals are not with it.

    Thank you,
    Tomasz Machaj

Thanks for your help and the quick reply. Do you think the medals on the left side are part of the group? Also have you ever seen the "POLAND" patches made from bakelite / plastic?

    Pozdrawiam,
    Tomasz

    Hello Tomasz,

With regards to your post and the question of the 2 medals on the side, the British Defence Medal also belongs to this group, but the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, I doubt that this would be issued to a Polish Soldier.

The Plastic titles yes I have seen these and your's look alright.

I hope that this answers your questions Tomasz

    Best wishes

    Hello Chris,

May I be the first to welcome you to the Forum, the Monte Cassino Cross Numbered 36332 when awarded the recipients details were as follows:

    Rank: Kanoner (Artilleryman)

    Surname: SAWICKI

    Christian Name: Władysław

    Date of Birth: 1921

Army Number: (also found on His ID tags): 1921-305-III

Unit: 7 Pulk Artylerii PLot. Lekkiej

Chris would I be correct that your Uncle Władysław died in Leeds in 1993, it might be a proverbial needle in a hay stack, but you never know someone may know where your Uncles Monte Cassino Cross has ended up?

Once again Chris welcome to the Forum, if you by chance have any photographs of your Uncle and it is not to much trouble post them if you wish, I will leave that up to you to decide.

    Once again Welcome

    Best wishes

    Andrzej
