    Hello Anthony,

I had just posted my post when I found your 2nd Post the KW is the Krzyż Walecznych (Cross of Valour 1939-1945) and KPMC is the Krzyż Pamiątkowy Monte Cassino (Monte Cassino Cross).

Your Father received the following awards from the Ministry of Defence Letter:

    Monte Cassino cross

    The Cross of Valour

    Monte Cassino cross

    Army Medal

    Monte Cassino cross

    Monte Cassino Cross

    Monte Cassino cross

    British 1939-1945 Star

    Monte Cassino cross

    British Italy Star

    Monte Cassino cross

    British Defence Medal

    Monte Cassino cross

    British 1939-1945 War Medal.

Anthony in addition to the above medals your father would have also received the following Badges :

    1) 6th Armoured Regiment Badge

    2) 2nd Armoured Division Badge

    3) 2nd Corps Badge

I hope that the above helps you identify the medals your father was awarded, by chance do you still have the Legitymacja's (Award Cards) that where given with the badges as well as the medals.

    Best wishes once again Anthony

    Andrzej

p.s. The M-o-D Letter that states your father joined the 6th Armoured Division at that time in the war it was still a Brigade and did not become a division until after the end of the war.

    Hello Anthony,

Congratulations on assembling the group, just a couple of observations the ribbon of the British 1939-1945 Star has been mounted the wrong way round, check the photograph that I posted above. Also the Number on the name plaque is your Fathers Polish Resettlement Corps Number, His original 2nd Corps Service Number was : 1921-109-III and his Rank was Pancerny (Tankman).

It might be a needle in a haystack to find your Fathers Monte Cassino Cross, but things like that do occur.

    Best wishes

    Andrzej

hi andrzej, all i got from the MOD were the british medals , in the letter i have it says they sent some papers re the polish medals but as with everything else he had there was nothing in mams possesions when she passed away. so i have replaced everything with originals srom far and wide, nearly there now , just the beret lion and collar penans to source, one day, maybe!!
