    Lisowskis's note in regimental monograph:

    Monte Cassino cross

"During enemy’s counterattack, on the front most part of the war front, he defended his tank despite the fact that the infantry had withdrawn from their position. He remained at his position despite the shellfire."

During the September 1939 campaign Lisowski was sent to a gulag by the NKVD and when released he did not want to go back through Russia. He and some friends travelled down through China and Mongolia and ended up joining the British at Monte Casino. After the war he studied at Bologna and a British officer ordered him to the UK, where he stayed until he died.

Julian Feliks Lisowski married in Ealing and died in Staines on February 11 1993. His active membership of the polish ex combatants association meant that he was acknowledged with a short biography. During his service in the 2nd corps he was awarded the cross of valour and at his death held the rank of lieutenant.
